The Tummlers return to Cadenza in our winter plumage - Carl Dimow on flutes and guitar, John Clark on bass, Steve Gruverman on clarinet and sax, and Peter McLaughin on drums - to help Cadenza kick off their 2026 season! Also joining us will be Michael Sabin on trombone. Yes, trombone is a classic klezmer instrument and Michael will show you why! When world-renowned artists spend an intensive week creating music with an intergenerational ensemble of Maine musicians (including members of the Tummlers), the result is Keepers of the Flame. This culminating concert features Grammy-nominated clarinetist David Krakauer, pianist/composer Kathleen Tagg, and musicians ranging from high schoolers to seniors performing newly created and reimagined works rooted in klezmer, jazz, classical, and global traditions. It’s a high-energy, collaborative celebration of creativity, shared learning, and how musical traditions are carried forward across generations.
